Postcard from Isla Mujeres: Yes, this happened!

Postcard from Isla Mujeres

Monday morning Scott and I were sipping champagne on a private yacht in the Caribbean sea on our way back from the intimate and charming resort at Zoetry Villa Rolandi on Isla Mujeres. There was a Beyonce/JayZ moment–not going to lie. It was a private yacht after all!

We were thinking this is so fantastic–where are our friends???

By Tuesday morning — 2 flights and a 2 hour car trip later — I found myself back at my desk, in Oroville, planning student services and consulting on the random crisis here and there.

That is one of the most interesting things about travel…

how quickly we can escape real life and then re-enter reality.

We had a fabulous trip. I’m looking forward to sharing more about the island paradise of Isle Mujeres with you.

I finished a new favorite book, “Beautiful Ruins”, by Jess Walter here.  We fell in love with the movie Brooklyn just before we left on the trip and watched Carol on the plane on the iPad. At one point we had to shut it down due to the teenagers sitting a row behind us….

If you’ve seen the movie you will know which scene I’m talking about.

For now, I’m simply checking in to say a real time “hello” to you, my wonderful readers,

and remind myself….

yes, this did happen!

Oh it’s so nice to get a glimpse of your gorgeous surroundings. How fun. I can’t wait to hear more about your trip. Also, I loved Beautiful Ruins although I thought the end sort of petered out. The hubby and I both loved Brooklyn, I read the book and thought they did a good job bringing it to film. But the movie Carol. Are we–hubby and me–the only ones who felt uncomfortable by the predatory nature of that “relationship” ?! Maybe they made the young girl–can’t remember the actress’s name–too doe-like and innocent but it feel CREEPY to me. The whole thing. I swear I haven’t seen anyone else share my opinion so maybe it’s just my sensitivity to the subject matter after years in the therapy field. But I didn’t get it—the acclaim for that movie. Sorry for blathering but hopefully you’re drinking a pina colada while your read this and don’t mind :)
hugs to you,
Leslie

I was lucky enough to be able to visit Isla Mujeres last year! We just went on a day excursion from Cancun and drove the golf carts around. It was lots of fun.

The golf carts are so much fun! The waters on the island are some of the bluest that I’ve seen. Thanks for stopping by today!

WOW. First of all, these photos are magazine worthy, the water is sensational, and how is it that those palm trees are in the WATER? That is such a beautiful and interesting seascape! Well my dear, my spring break is now on its fourth day, and I have enjoyed every quiet minute to myself. You are right. Next week when I start to plan the next lesson few lessons plans and I have to deal with the stress of April/May in the high school, I will think of my spring break, and YOU, this wonderful escape that brought you back to the everyday reality. But this vacation of ours? This is reality too. HOORAY for vacations!!!!!! Anita
