An Oasis in the Desert at Flora Farms (where organics and celebrities mingle)

Bumping along the dry, dirty road in the taxi I started to wonder if we had made a mistake. How could anything in this out of the way dust bowl be worthy of our final night in paradise instead of a luxurious San Jose del Cabo beachfront resort?

Our driver pulled up in front of a colorful oasis, a veritable Shangri-La, and we were welcomed with open arms. From the winding paths lined with radiant flowers, to retro lounge areas adorned with sweet bouquets, to the rustic luxe dining areas, and the sleek pool and spa area nestled beneath the bone dry hills, we had finally arrived at Flora’s Farm and Flora’s Field Kitchen.

The Flora Farms vibe is fresh, healthy, rustic, and organic with a touch of luxe, adorned with
neon flowers and celebrities (yes I’ll dish).

Wedding-Table-at-Flora-Farms

The farm table at Flora Farms set for a simple chic wedding party. They were having so much fun as the

evening unfolded we were tempted to crash it–but refrained.

This unique visit was planned by our friend Francisco at The Grand Mayan. He advised us to get there early for the farm tour and cottage walk which is a must see. Every tree and plant on the property exists with intentionality–either edible or decorative, each contributing to the delicate ecosystem. Flora Farms is exceptionally organic. Water is purified using ultraviolet light before using it to water plants.

The flowers were as neon as my Trina Turk sweater. The house behind me is the fractional ownership home that is available for rent. Definitely rustic luxe…..and yes, I could live here.

Is my latent green thumb showing??

Did you see the swimming pool and spa above? #movin in

For dinner at Flora’s Field Kitchen we were seated in the rustic outdoor dining room. The space is divided into smaller, intimate open air dining areas. We dined on almond-cucumber gazpacho, cauliflower custard, arugula beet salad, Swiss chard gnocchi and egg plant torte. Jorge and his team absolutely spoiled us with fresh, organic deliciousness and a few tales of encounters with celebrities (only because I begged).

Celebrities can sneak in and out barely recognizable at Flora’s Field Kitchen and they frequently do. We were told that Adam Levine, Maroon 5 and Cindy Crawford dined at Flora’s Field Kitchen earlier in the week. My personal favorite, George Clooney, is a regular (as is Jennifer Aniston) and shhh…in 6 degrees of separation style….we spoke to George’s butler’s brother. Yes, our ‘new friend’ has attended a number of parties with George Clooney and his friends.  And yes, I touched his sleeve, only because he has partied alongside George Clooney.

UPDATE: In July 2014 Adam Levine returned to Flora Farms for his wedding!

Unbelievably fresh….

Our thanks to Francisco from Grand Mayan and his wife, Laura from Flora Farms, for an extraordinary evening.

Wishing you a little Shangri-La in your week!

HEATHER! Hello there my gorgeous friend! To come here again is so soothing, and I can feel the warmth of the western hills. Thank you so much for coming to visit, and for posting on Google + about my post. Well, it takes observing and being astonished at what is around us to keep on going. We have very little sunshine, lots of snow, a lot of cold…but I’m convinced that within that, there is SPRING JOY. I always think about how many great writers and inventors came out of Minnesota, and my “theory” is that they were locked up in the house for months due to the cold, and ended up spending a lot of time creating! Thank you again for such kind comments. Enjoy your day! Anita

Heather, This looks like a dreamy spot to spend the day. You look .. very much:) at home here and yellow is your color! The food looks spectacular and YES:) very fresh. I like the picture of the produce on display.. so pretty. Looks like this spot was worth the drive! I’m anxious for the Seattle grey and rain to move along. This is the most difficult time of year for us.

My blog is getting a re-do now so we will see how it goes. Hopefully this will be a good change. Did you make the switch already?? xxL

Beautiful post! I can’t wait to try it in May when I’m down there for my girls getaway! ! To answer one of your earlier questions…..no, we don’t know each other.
I just stumbled across your blog about 4 or 5 months ago and enjoy keeping up on it. I will have to figure out how to post a pic of myself when I leave a comment.
